DOMINICA (Dom-in-EEK-ah) – Known as  “The Nature Island”

Only (1) Room (double occupancy) and (1) single female spot available!

Dominica is so unique!

It’s a mountainous Caribbean country located in the Lesser Antilles. Dominica offers remarkable dive sites including dramatic walls, healthy reefs, drop offs, canyons and pinnacles. With a resident pod of sperm whales and many migrating pods of sperm whales, false killer whales and short finned pilot whales, encounters are possible year-round.  Colorful and giant barrel sponges, healthy coral, seahorses, frogfish, squid, large crabs and lobsters are common sightings.

I usually focus only on diving, but Dominica is also known as “The Nature Island” due to its lush, varied flora, fauna and old growth rain forests. It has 365 rivers, streams and multiple waterfalls. Lava craters from volcanic peaks create lakes. Here you’ll find Boiling Lake, the world’s second-largest thermally active lake. Also, prevalent are extensive bird and land species. Consequently, this destination mirrors a South Pacific island.  Included is a tour to Trafalgar Falls & Titou Gorge however, there are no shortages of other day tours.  I would encourage you to take advantage of other excursions while on the island.

We have reserved Oceanfront rooms at the Fort Young Hotel in Roseau.  Located within the ramparts of the old colonial military Fort Young of 1770’s vintage, this modern, boutique-style hotel boasts on-site dive operations, infinity pool, hot tub, multiple dining options as well as walking distance to a wide variety of restaurants, cafes, markets and vibrant nightlife!  Honestly, I wish we were staying for 2 weeks
